Welcome to Home-Start Rochdale and Bury

The Earliest Years Make the Biggest Impact

Home-Start makes sure those early years count, so that no child future is limited. We understand that children who are raised in a stable, loving, family environment are more likely to have a positive and healthy future.
Our support is provided for families with a child up to their 12th Birthday. Parents may be dealing with difficulties such as:

  • Social isolation
  • Relationship difficulties or domestic abuse
  • Raising children alone
  • Poverty and debt
  • Illness and disability
  • Post – natal illness
  • Behavioural difficulties
  • Coping with several young children

Parents providing support to other parents

Starting in the home, our approach is as individual as the people we are supporting. Volunteers are non-judgemental, compassionate and provide emotional help and support.
Home-start works because all our volunteers are parents themselves. They understand how hard it can be to raise children within today’s society. They work alongside parents in their own homes, to help them cope with the stress and strain of life and make sure they have the skills, confidence and strength they need to nurture their children.

Home-Start offers support for families by providing:

  • Regular home visiting support providing emotional and practical help
  • Online one to one and group support sessions
  • Accessing community outings and local services
  • Access to essential items including food, clothing, toys and baby items
  • Handy person support for all those supported by the service.
